LESSON 3 — The BRIDGE

The bridge provides a gentle contrast to the verse, using a shorter chord sequence that creates a sense of lift before returning to the main progression.

This section moves through C – G – A7 – D7 – G, with slightly longer strums on the A7 and D7 to give the phrase space to breathe.

Focus on keeping your strumming relaxed and even, allowing the chords to ring out fully. The changes are straightforward, so this is a great opportunity to concentrate on your timing and musical feel.

As you play through the bridge, think about shaping the dynamics slightly — letting it open up a little — before settling back into the verse.

⭐ Tip: Note that the A7 and D7 chords last for 2 beats so linger a little longer to highlight the change in the section and create a natural sense of movement back to G.
