UCL2.2 - WEEK 5
"PINK PONY CLUB"

Welcome back!! This week you we will be exploring PINK PONY CLUB by Chapell Roan, released as a single in 2020 but making chart success in 2023 on her debut album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.

Chapell sings in the key of F# major which is extremely high, so for sing along sake we've changed the original key to D major - much simpler chords too you will be happy to know!

CHORDS

There are only 4 chords contained in this song, which repeat in this order throughout the entire song, which is great - but to make the smooth transitions to allow the single strums to really ring out - try playing the barred shapes for each of them as follows:  (Blue labelled chords are for left hand players)

If you find it difficult to sustain these barred shapes throughout the entire song - feel free to return to the open positions for the verses, chorus and solo sections. Watch the video below to see how to play the barred chords effectively

STRUMMING PATTERNS

This song contains 4 different strumming patterns including SINGLE STRUMS (VERSE 1 & 5), which fall on beat 1 of each bar, the HALF CHUCK (VERSE 2, 3 & 4), the DOWN-UP TAP TAP (BRIDGES) and finally the CHUCK STRUM (CHORUS & SOLOS).
