SESSION TIMES: 7.30pm (45 mins live tutorial, 15 min group chat & feedback/recap session)

Please note there is a half term week in the middle of the course from week beginning 15th February so there are no sessions during this week.
WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR:
This is an ongoing course for UCL members who have already completed all other levels with eligibility to perform at live events and showcases, once we are once again able. You should have ideally completed at least level 2.1 and 2.2 although if you have over 2 years playing and performance experience with a good knowledge of the fretboard and various playing positions then you will be eligible to join after completing level 2.2 only. This is essential training that will prepare you for the arrangements of the UCL repertoire.
Suitable for age 18+. This ukulele is for ukuleles in C tuning (G, C, E, A).
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
- A playable ukulele
- A tuner (digital or clip on)
- Access to the internet via wifi
- A Facebook account
- An email address
- A Chrome or Mozilla Firefox web browser (Ask for assistance if needed)
- A willingness to learn and practice independently
HOW IT WORKS:
This Level 3 course contains a variety of learning tools including weekly online lessons, which will be broadcast live to your allocated Facebook group at the times and dates stated above. These sessions will be available for re-watching for up to 24 hours after each session has expired. You will also be able to download all course content such as PDF worksheets, song sheets and audio files associated with the course content from the group page along with links to some bite sized video tutorials to help you with practice in your own time so you don't have to worry about missing a session or forgetting the lesson once its over. There is also a message box available during the live broadcast lessons so you can communicate with your Music Leader if necessary. Singing at this level is mandatory and if you are willing to lead a song then great. Due to the COVID-19 crisis some of the vocal parts for this term will be arranged for melody picking.
The course content is broken up into weekly modules that will help you progress at a suitable pace enabling you to explore a number of techniques that will get you playing along to some of your favourite songs with a new song introduced each week to help you expand your chord repertoire. - Embellish a wide range of strumming techniques into your playing in preparation for performing
- Practice playing alternative parts for 2 and 3 part song arrangements
- Play some jazz standards to be utilised in new songs
- Put your basic and advanced strumming techniques into practice
- Recognise a number of more complicated chord shapes such as Eb7m5 and
- Expand your festive repertoire
- Play more intricate parts that will really make the music come alive
- Prepare for the stage when we finally get back to some normality
- Downloads a range of PDF worksheets and song sheets and audio files to assist home practice
The course fee covers all 10 weeks of live broadcast training sessions, feedback sessions plus all course content materials that can be downloaded to keep. The course content and materials are created & designed by Elaine Kinsella for the sole purposes of UCL ukulele training only and must not be shared or redistributed online or to any third parties.
If your wish to withdraw from the participation of this UCL course, you will be offered a 50% refund of the course fee if you depart within the first week (7 days) of the course under reasonable circumstances. In the event that, such notice is not received by the end of week 1, fees will be forfeit in full.
If for any reason the live broadcast is experiencing problems we will endeavour to publish the sessions via another medium such as Youtube asap and post the link to your dedicated group.
