THE CHORDS

This part features a mix of open chords and barre chords played in the 2nd and 3rd positions on the fretboard.
Before diving into the song, take a moment to familiarise yourself with each chord shape and position. This will help you play more smoothly and confidently when putting everything together.

RECAP ON HOW TO PLAY BARRED CHORDS

A barred chord requires the use of your index finger to bar two or more strings at the same time whilst using your other fingers to complete the rest of the chord shape. Barred chords generally cover all 4 strings and although they can take a bit of getting used too.

EXERCISE: Watch the video below to see how to practice barred chords effectively:

STRUMMING PATTERN

You only have one strumming pattern to play all the way through/ It contains a flamenco strum on Beat 2 and two dampened strums on beats 3 & 4 so for this reason we will call it the FLAMENCO DAMPENED STRUM - FLAM-DAM for short!
