UCL PLAY - WEEK 7
​"NOW & THEN"

This week you will revisit, NOW & THEN the latest and possibly last, Beatles song, released in 2023. Five decades in the making and some new technology developed by Peter Jackson & his software team within the production of Get Back made it possible to separate Johns 1970s recorded guitar and vocals to produce a fresh, clean mix which hit the tops of the charts in December 2024 a week after entering the chart at no 42.

The Chords 

To make singing easier, you'll primarily play low-end chords throughout most of the song. However, towards the end of the chorus sections, incorporate 2nd position chords to add a subtle lift and enhance the dynamic feel.

The STRUMMING PATTERNS​

INTRO & VERSE STRUMMING: This is the main strumming pattern that works well over the verse sections. Beat 1, 3 + are played a bit lighter to provide an effective dynamic sound. It sounds great on a low G tenor!
CHORUS & SOLO STRUMMING: This strumming pattern kicks in at the end of Verse 2 on the Am chord and continues into the chorus. If you're not playing the solo, you can also use this pattern over the solo sections. Feel free to alternate between strumming patterns throughout the song—just make sure you transition smoothly to the next chord.

The PICKING PATTERN​​

END OF VERSE PICKING: At the end of the first verse, strum and pick out the final two chords as shown below. For Verses 2 and 3, only the Asus2 chord (covering the first bar) needs to be played using the second strumming pattern for Am.

SOLO 1

This is the first ukulele solo part that takes place during the instrumental section played at 90BPM. Unfortunately, the click track is not working via the app so watch the blue metronome line for the count in:
