FINGER GYM EXERCISE 1

Let's begin with a quick warm up, and remember to do some stretching and limbering up before you begin. This week you will practice at 80BPM

Use your PDF from week 1 for this exercise.

SONG 1 - SPOOKY

This song contains four chords, Am, Bm7, Cdim7 & Em7. It works well with the chuck strum, arrangement into a groovy two bar pattern. The majority of the song is based around Am - Bm7 with one bar of Cdim7 towards the end of each verse and the Em7 at the very end, as a bridge into the next section.

SONG 2 - BAD MOON RISING

This song contains just 3 chords; D, G & A and a 4 bar pattern for the verses and a calypso strum for the chorus, solo part 1 & outro sections.
If you are feeling brave enough to add some backing vocals then you can select either the high or low backing parts for the chorus sections "There's a bad moon on the rise"

VIDEOS

Video tutorials and play along tracks may take up to 24 hours to appear after your class taking place. If they are not yet available, please check back in as this is a great way to help with home practice.

CHUCK STRUm

The chuck strum is a rhythmic strumming patter where the pitch of the strings are deadened on beat 2 and 4 of each 4/4 bar to the point that only a percussive sound is heard. The chuck beat is represented by a blue 'X'.
Practice the chuck strum alone and make sure you are able to get the right technique of striking the strings whilst palm muting them at the same time for that percussive sound.
