Hailing from Liverpool, UK, Elaine began her exploration into music during her school days after forming a music group with school friends, and getting airtime on Radio City, which led them to compete in a music competition for a Saturday morning TV show. Unfortunately, the group didn't win, but this was to be the start of a wonderful lifelong journey into music making.
Elaine began learning piano at the young age of 8 before trying out Guitar at aged 10. In her 20's she teamed up with a local songwriter and began writing original songs before joining her first band. In her early 30s, she became keen to try out drumming, and after a few lessons with a local drum tutor, she was hooked, and has now accumulated over 15 years of drumming experience, for both signed and unsigned bands
In 2008, Elaine was introduced to the ukulele whilst at college, and joined ukulele classes during her lunch breaks. In 2011, she came across advanced ukulele lessons with Ukulele Uff, and topped up her skills before arranging a taster session for what was to become Ukulele Club Liverpool, in December of 2012. After a great response, the club officially formed in 2013.
10 years later, she has helped over 500 people learn ukulele, performed with club members at over 50 venues around Liverpool, as well as at festivals, retreats, weddings, functions, schools, universities, on cruise liners an on local radio and TV. She led 300 ukulele players at the 2020 world ukulele day at Liverpool One and is partly responsible for the fruition of many of the ukulele bands in and around Liverpool.
Elaine continues to play drums with the SPLINTERED UKES and writes original songs, playing baritone ukulele with the MA MACHETES. She is the main content creator for both UKULELE CLUB LIVERPOOL and LIKE AN ORCHESTRA, which is about to relaunch in Spring 2023. She also delivers private lessons both online and in person.
Her passion for music, media and teaching was the catalyst behind achieving a degree in Moving Image and a BTEC National in Music Technology, both of which have enabled her to create this online course along with many others, and many more to come. Elaine is a massive advocate for the underdog of all instruments, and continues to explore the infinite wonders of the ukulele and music with much joy and enthusiasm.
