WEEK 2
This week you will explore HOUND DOG, most famously released by Elvis in 1956, originally written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller in 1952. Before Elvis released this song, BIG MAMA THORNTON released the original version of the song with Peacock Records which has slightly different lyrics and is in the key of Eb major. There was also a few response songs called BEAR CAT written by Rufus Thomas Jr, that uses the same 12 bar sequence but in the key of E major. Another response song to Mama Thornton's version was MR HOUND DOG'S IN TOWN by Roy Brown. So now you can jam along to at least 4 songs using this 12-bar blues pattern.
