WEEK 4

This week you will revisit DEM BONES and explore how to play a finger picking pattern called the CAGE picking pattern. The reason it is called this is due to the fact that if you pluck the open strings starting with the C string, then the A string, followed by the G string and finally the E string, it spells out the word CAGE and is a great way to start your finger picking technique.

For this exercise you will play the CAGE pattern notes on each beat of the bar. Download the PDF for more info and remember to bring DEM BONES song sheet from week 1 along to your session so you can try it out on that song.
CAGE PICKING
This is what the CAGE picking pattern looks like when played with the string in open position. To get used to playing the pattern, try playing it at least 8 times consecutively. Have a listen to the audio below to play along at 80BPM.
