The RIFF
This week you will explore a 1980s rock classic, SWEET CHILD O MINE by Guns N Roses, starting with the RIFF section as played by Slash. You may have already explored the main chord progressions at level two, but if not please see the song sheet for chords and basic strumming instruction and have a listen to the UCL arrangement before you begin your training.
FINGER GYM TRAINING - THE C MAJOR HOP
In preparation for your solo training next week, it is essential that you get those fingers moving across the noters of the C Major scale so please have a go at this finger gym, starting off at 60BPM and working up to 80BPM

THE RIFF
This song is for a three part arrangement, contains a lead riff and 2 solo parts which you will explore next week. This week you will navigate the RIFF section which is played twice round during the intro section and with bars 1 & 2 at the end of each chorus section. You could potentially play the riff throughout the verses too.

The riff has been broken down into 2-bar sections with the audio being slowed down for training purposes.
- Remember to dedicate your thumb for plucking notes on the G & C string,
- Your index finger plucks notes on the E string
- Your middle finger should pluck notes on the A string
