MODULE 10
STAND BY ME

In this module you will explore your first solo exercise from Stand By Me. A solo is a piece or a section of a song played or sung featuring a single performer, who may be performing completely alone or supported by an accompanying instrument such as a piano or organ, orchestra, band, or other ensemble.

STAND BY ME - SONG STRUCTURE

Stand By Me consists of an 8-bar, strophic pattern, which means it repeats throughout the entire song. The chord are A, F#m, D and E7 and it works great with a chuck strum.
Download the PDF song sheet below which also contains the chord structure, riff tab and solo and have a listen to the audio track with all sections played at 116BPM.

THE INTRO SECTION

This song is great to play with an ensemble, as some people can take on the chords and others the riff. Here's the riff section for you to recap:

THE SOLO SECTION

The solo section is usually played by just one person, but for ukulele ensembles, a few people could play together, as long as the timing is spot on.
