UCL 2.2 - WEEK 2

"TAKE ME OUT"

This week you will explore a range of strumming techniques and alternative tempos with mostly basic chords shapes that will form a ukulele arrangement of Franz Ferdinands, "TAKE ME OUT".

Strumming Patterns

We are going to simplify a pretty solid rock strum which would usually played with using down strokes only but this can be pretty hard work at speed so instead, we will use the pattern illustrated below to achieve a similar effect. 

INTRO.

PART 1
This section alternates between the rock strum and simple down strums as illustrated below:

PART 2
This section is played twice round and just appears once in the song.

PART 3
This section is where the song begins to slow down at the end for the marching style rhythm.

PART 4
This section is played on the beat 3 tomes on Em then uses a 16th note rock pattern for the 3 e + a 4 e + a and also comes in at part 9 (just one round), 14 and 16for the outro section. (x3 rounds with an extra single on Em to end)

PART 5 - 9
This section uses a 16th note pattern, which an be counted: 1 e + a 2 e + a 3 e + a 4 e + a (16 beats per bar)
It is played 7 times in total to take you right through sections 6, 7 and 8.

PART 9 is the same as PART 4 played once round.

PART 10 - 16 
This section​ is where the chord progression changes and uses mostly single strums with a 16th note pattern in the final bar. The rest of the sections are repeated as above as follows:

(Same as part 5 x1)
PART 14.
(Same as part 4 x2)
PART 15.
(Same as part 10 x 4)
PART 16. (Same as part 5 x 3 end on Em)
