Welcome To Week 7

This week we will be exploring STAND BY ME written by Liber and Stoller for Ben E. King back in 1961. John Lennon also covered this song in 1975. Please download the PDF and audio file below and watch the video tutorial for the chords and strumming and have a go at the play along videos for the riff and solo.

STAND BY ME

There are three elements to this song that you will be exploring this week including the strumming, riff and solo parts. Download the MP3 which contains a demo of all three. This song will be performed by all levels with different parts for each. The level 2.1 group will focus on either the strumming or the picking. If you want to give the solo a go - feel free but the level 2.2 will lead on this part.

CHORDS & STRUMING

This video tutorial was created for the mega busk on World Ukulele Day 2020. Have a go at the chord progression then try practicing singing the lyrics with the lovely Gemma at the end of the video.

RIFF

The riff can be played constantly throughout the song until the solo part. Here you should switch to light strumming if you are playing the riff part.

SOLO

The solo contains 8 bars but is played twice round. The 'H' stands for hammer on.
