UCL Busking Adventures...

It was a dreamy sunny day down the Albert Dock. The breeze was minimal and the temperature toasty. Tourists from all over the world flocked to see what wondrous delights were about to occur on the side walk opposite the bus stop near to the Pump House. It was us, the AWESOME Ukulele Club Liverpool setting up for our first ever busking session!

About 20 people stood by watching, waiting (mostly for Mandy to finish faffing with  her new tape recorder), until we were eventually ready to rock the dock. We started with our club classic - Anyone Else But You by the Moldy Peaches, with Nomes and Laura taking lead vocals and Rachel on kazoo! In an instant, smiles started to appear. More people gathered! The du du's arrived and the whole group joined in...our first coin was dropped into the carefully placed uke case! We finished, the crowd cheered. We sung the rest of our 7 song set....3 times to the delight of quite a number of impressed passers by, some of whom stayed for more than one set! 

As we were about to finish, like a bolt of lightning, Pearl from the Mersey Belles appeared, followed by her vintage cousin Nancy! They kicked off their shoes, after running all the way from the Camp N Furnace where they had been delighting audiences with their uke music at Judy's Affordable Vintage Fair, and joined us for the last 3 songs. 

It was an hour and a half of pure bliss and a simply an awesome affair, one that will be remembered by all for a good long while! A fair few coins were donated, all of which will go towards the sustainability and growth of the Ukulele Club Liverpool....so that many more smiles are created and the joy that we bring is spread far and wide! :)
