Last September (2013) we were entered into the Liverpool Echo Wish Campaign to win a share of the Liverpool Echo's £25,000 Wish fund. With a total of 150 local community groups and organisations competing for a share, it was up to each one to collect as many Wish tokens from the daily Echo as possibly over a 2 month period. A great little bit of exposure for so many remarkable, underexposed groups that really do make a massive difference in our local and wider community.

All in all Ukulele Club Liverpool managed to collect a staggering amount of 10,618 tokens for which we will receive a cash reward of £87.50. We would like to say a MASSIVE THANKS to everyone who collected the tokens for us in person and to those that sent them in via the post. We really do appreciate your support!! :)

Ukulele Club is a great way for people to, not only, develop new music skills, but also to develop and nurture confidence, ambition, and enjoy all of the social aspects that come with both the ukulele and the club. Much more than that though, each of our members get to share their joyful sounds through a range of extra curricular activities and live performances including busking, gigs, charity events and festivals.

The money raised from the Wish fund will enable us to buy a few more of these delicious Danelectro Honeytone amps and jack leads so that we can make our ukulele's heard amongst the pigeons and wind during our busking escapades. The money we raise from busking goes towards our own fundraising initiatives. In 2013 we raised £125.00 from busking that went towards hiring a venue to showcase the Mighty Uke movie along with some fantastic local ukulele talent including the Mersey Belles, Ukulele Uff & Lonesome Dave and Ukebox. From ticket sales, raffles and a superb prize draw we raised a total of £570.00 that was donated to the Nystagmus Network. For more info about the Mighty Uke event click here.

We ran our own competition during the campaign that enabled one lucky winner to take home one of our awesome Snail Ukuleles. All they had to do was collect 500 tokens within 2 weeks and hey presto! Our lucky winner was delighted with her Snail and has now joined a ukulele band! More info soon :)
